Barney's Run for Warriors

Barney's Run for Warriors is a charity running event in Albany, Georgia that supports K9s for Warriors. Proceeds help purchase trained service dogs for veterans; ninety five percent of the dogs trained by the organization are rescued from shelters with high kill rates. The event states that graduates of the program are able to resume a more normal life.

The event offers multiple race distances:

• 5K Military
• 13.1 miles Military

The 13.1 mile, 10K and 5K races are USATF certified. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall male and female finishers in the half marathon, 10K and 5K. Medals are given to finishers in the 13.1 mile race and the 1 mile event. Medals are also awarded to male and female 10K and 5K runners, with top three finishers recognized in nine age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and above.

A Best American Spirit School Award is given to the school with the most participants across the half marathon, 10K, 5K and 1 mile. Packet pickup is available the day before at The Shoe Box, 2528 Dawson Rd, and on race day behind Phoebe Northwest at 2336 Dawson Rd on the corner of Watergate Ln and Lake Park Dr. T shirt registration deadline is November 5. T shirts are a cotton poly blend and sizes offered include youth and adult sizes up to 4XL. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
