Bargara by Night 18hr Backyard Ultra 2026
Bargara by Night is a backyard ultra held at Neilsons Beach and Barolin Reserve in Bargara, QLD. Runners complete repeated 6.7 km loops on a course that uses mostly gravel trails with some short sections of concrete and asphalt leading to the trail. Loops start on the hour, every hour, and participants may register for one of three durations.
The event structure includes a daytime segment on the reserve trails followed by night running on the same 6.7 km loop. Night runners are required to carry headlamps. Age limits differ by event: the 6-hour option is open to entrants aged 14 and older, while the 12-hour and 18-hour options require entrants to be 18 or older.
If multiple runners of the same gender complete a given distance, placings are determined by fastest overall time. For the 18-hour event the course includes an extended final period following the initial distance block; completed-distance tracking and a name badge system are used to show active competitors. Finishers who complete at least one lap receive a medal.
Event logistics note that registration and pack collection occur at a registration tent at Neilsons Park, and allocated gazebo spaces are assigned at registration; gazebos may not be pegged into the ground due to underground irrigation and must be removed the morning after the event.
