Wings for Life World Run - Bundaberg
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event designed for both runners and wheelchair participants. The race features a unique format without a fixed finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application to compete against a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle starts 30 minutes after the initial race commencement at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace. An individual's race concludes once the Virtual Catcher Car passes them in the application.
The event in Bundaberg follows a 2.5 km circular route through the central part of the city. The course is completed in an anticlockwise direction, starting and ending near Move Mobility on Walla Street. The track passes several local landmarks, including:
- Riverside Parklands
- Anzac Park
- Buss Park
This specific location is an App Run Event, meaning participants run together while tracked by the Wings for Life World Run App. The event is open to all, including those who may not be able to run but wish to participate. All entry fees and donations collected from the event are allocated to spinal cord research projects worldwide. Local amenities for participants include a refreshment station and timing services.
