Barbury Castle Sunset 10 km
This is an off road 10 km trail run based at Barbury Shooting School near Barbury Castle in Wroughton SN4 0QH. The route follows tracks and grass, including sections of the Old Ridgeway, a climb up the Iron Age Attack to the castle and running along Smeathes Ridge. The course is fully marshalled.
Facilities at the shooting school include toilets, a bag drop left at entrants risk, first aid on a voluntary basis and refreshments after the race with a bar and a BBQ. Parking is available on site and the organiser asks participants to consider car sharing to maximise available spaces.
All profits will go directly to charity. This edition supports the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity. The organiser is Wroughton Whippets Running Club and Run Swindon is listed as a sponsor which helps keep the entry fee at £15. The event is currently full and new entries are placed on a waiting list.
Entrants receive a unique finishers medal and a post race drink at the bar. The course is described as involving a few hills and takes in countryside views around Barbury Castle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
