About the race
BAR-KA-KOO Ultra & Relay is a 55-kilometer trail challenge at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area in Parkland County. The race consists of five 11-kilometer loops, with a 10-hour time cap and a must-finish-loop-4-by-dusk rule. About 75% of the course is technical single-track, and participants run self-supported with minimal course marking.
Directions alternate on each loop, adding strategy and fatigue. Start and finish are at a park gate, with options for solo, two-person relay, or five-person relay teams. Highlights include mandatory checkpoints, a warming aid station, finisher medals, and a draw for prizes, with proceeds benefiting Little Warriors.
