Event overview
Bands on the Run 5K is an annual fundraiser held on April 26, 2026, in McLean, Virginia. The event starts and finishes at Langley High School, 6520 Georgetown Pike, and supports the Cooper Middle School and Langley High School band programs. Funds raised contribute to professional sectional teachers, guest clinicians, repair and replacement of instruments, equipment and uniforms, and scholarship funds for students.
Online registration is open through race morning. Registration fees are $45 through March 27 and $60 from March 28 through April 26. Registrants receive a cotton race t-shirt; sizes are guaranteed for participants registered by March 14. T-shirts for later registrants are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Course and logistics
The 5K course is an out-and-back route through the tree-lined Langley Oaks residential neighborhood adjacent to and west of the high school. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Langley High School (door 14) and on race day in the school parking lot. The event is stroller friendly and, because it starts and ends on FCPS property, no animals are permitted per county policy.
Timing and scoring are provided by PR Races. Parking is toward the back of the Langley High School lot. The event takes place rain or shine and there are no refunds. After the race there will be live DJ music, post-race snacks, a photo op and sponsor booths. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
