Event Overview
The Bands on the Run 5K is an annual fundraiser and community-building event for the band programs at Cooper Middle School and Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. The event takes place on April 26, 2026.
Event Details
The 5K run and walk begins and ends at Langley High School, at 6520 Georgetown Pike. The course goes through the nearby residential neighborhood of Langley Oaks. The event is open to participants of all paces and is stroller-friendly. Pets are not permitted.
Registration is online only. Early registration, available through April 9, 2026, has a fee of $40 for participants aged 6-18 and $45 for adults. Participants aged 5 and under are free with a paying adult. Prices increase after that date. Each registrant receives a cotton race t-shirt, with sizes guaranteed for those registered by the early deadline.
Packet pickup is available on the day before the race at Langley High School and on race morning in the school's parking lot.
Fundraising Purpose
The proceeds from the event support the school band programs. Funds are used for professional teachers, guest clinicians, instrument and uniform repairs, and scholarships for students in need. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
