Bamburgh Castle Duathlons 2026: Challenge yourself on run cycle run courses around iconic Bamburgh Castle and along the Northumberland coast, with sprint and standard options to suit different abilities. Open roads and a secure transition area make for a memorable coastal duathlon. Bamburgh Castle Cycle Sportive 2026: Ride from Bamburgh Castle on signed 50 km, 100 km or 100 mile routes that showcase coastal views and inland climbs to Alnwick. Feed stations, route signing and live timing keep you supported on a scenic day in Northumberland.

Bamburgh Castle Duathlons 2026

Date: 19 April 2026. Location: Car Park, Links Road, Bamburgh, NE69 7AX.

Two duathlon formats are offered with run-cycle-run legs:

  • Sprint: Run 5 km, Cycle 20+ km, Run 2.5 km
  • Standard: Run 10 km, Cycle 40+ km, Run 5 km

Runs take place on paths and trails around the castle grounds. Cycle routes head out along open roads on the Northumberland coast. The event is held on open roads; the Highway Code must be followed and a cycling helmet is compulsory. A secure transition area is provided for competitors only; race and bike numbers determine racking spots, small bags are permitted, and bib and bike numbers are checked at exit. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, a snack and a drink. An event T-shirt is available to purchase for £12. Free parking is available for participants. A relay option is available for both formats. Registration opens 25/04/2025 and closes 14/04/2026.

Bamburgh Castle Cycle Sportive 2026

Date: 19 April 2026. Location: Car Park, Links Road, Bamburgh, NE69 7AX.

Three cycle routes are offered:

  • 50 km route, approx. elevation 1,200 ft
  • 100 km route, approx. elevation 2,800 ft
  • 100 mile route, approx. elevation 5,200 ft

All routes start and finish in Bamburgh and are signed; GPX files are sent on registration. The 50 km route is described for beginners; the 100 mile route includes an inland section to Alnwick and Eglingham. Feed stations: Acklington serves 100 km and 100 mile riders; the 100 mile has an additional feed station at 78 miles. Portable toilets are provided at feed stations. Helmets are compulsory and the Highway Code must be observed. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. Minimum age to participate is 17. An event T-shirt is available for £12.
