Baldy Hill Climb
The Baldy Hill Climb, presented by Zenergy Sun Valley and organized by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, is an annual uphill event on Bald Mountain in Sun Valley, Idaho. The event for 2026 is scheduled for September 26, 2026 and brings together hikers and racers to climb the Warm Springs route to the summit, with a lift ride down on the Challenger lift.
Distances and course
- Main climb: 3,140 ft vertical across 1.86 miles.
- KinderClimb: a short youth course for children 11 and younger, roughly 200 yards and run free with no advance sign up.
Event format and entries The event includes a Race Class and a Hike Class. The Race Class is timed and competitive with age group and overall awards; all Race Class participants must wear a timing chip. The Hike Class is timed but non-competitive and also requires a timing chip. Family team results use the fastest three Race Class times from a family of at least three registered members.
Logistics and policies Registration is open for the 2026 event and closes Thursday, September 24. Entry fees are listed by age group on the event page. No race day registration is allowed. The event has an air quality policy that calls for cancellation if the AQI exceeds 100; the final decision will be made by the organizers on race morning. In the event of cancellation due to environmental conditions, there is no refund of the participant entry fee; participants registered for the 2025 event were offered a reduced entry fee of $25.00 for the 2026 event.
