Event overview
The Stump Jump presented by Bad Beard Events is a trail running event in Signal Mountain, Chattanooga, TN. The event offers two distances:
- 50K
- 10 Miler
All races start and finish at the Signal Mountain Soccer Fields behind Signal Mountain High School on Sam Powell Road. The event includes packet pickup on the day before and the day of the races and on-site shoe demos from La Sportiva and Rossignol. A portion of proceeds will benefit Signal Mountain Athletics and Chattanooga Cave and Cliff Rescue.
Course, aid stations and extras
The course is about 90% single-track and runs atop Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge, with views of the Tennessee River Gorge and local coves, streams, hemlock, and rhododendron. Aid stations are stocked with sports drink (Powerade or Gatorade), chips, pretzels, fruit snacks, mustard packets, Oreo cookies, gels, and cola or ginger ale. Runners receive a shirt, a post-race meal, and free beer from Dynamo Brewing. No crews or drop bags are allowed.
Cutoffs and refunds
The 50K has a 10 hour overall cutoff with intermediate cutoffs at mile 14.2 (4 hour) and mile 22.8 (7 hour 15 minute). The 10 Miler has a 4 hour cutoff with an intermediate cutoff at mile 4.9 (2 hour). There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments. Camping on the soccer fields is available; tents are permitted, RVs allowed without hookups, and pavilion bathrooms are accessible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
