Stump Jump 50K & 10 Miler
The Stump Jump presented by Bad Beard Events is a trail running event near Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The event offers the following race distances:
- 50K
- 10 Miler
The course is approximately 90% single track and runs on sandstone strewn trails with views of the Tennessee River Gorge, hemlock and rhododendron stands, and cascading streams. The event notes long local history and is in its 25th running.
Aid stations are placed along the 50K course with a mix of light and full aid. Listed locations and mile markers include Edwards Point, Mushroom Rock, Indian Rock House, Snoopers Rock, Haley Road, Mullens Cove Parking Lot, and the finish. Runners are asked to bring a cup. Aid generally includes water, Gatorade, and snacks; some stations may offer additional items such as soda, gels, oatmeal creme pies, pickles, chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and fruit.
Cutoff policies are published for both distances. The 50K has a 10 hour finish cutoff with intermediate station cutoffs; the 10 Miler has a 4 hour cutoff with an earlier aid station cutoff. Race day logistics include no crews and no drop bags, and poles are allowed. Packet pickup and on site vendor demos are provided. Camping is available on the start finish soccer fields with tent spaces and RV parking but no hookups. A portion of proceeds benefits local athletics and rescue organizations.
