River Gorge Trail Race

The River Gorge Trail Race takes place on looped trails in the Prentice-Cooper Wildlife Management Area just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course runs the Mullens Cove and Pot Point loops and follows technical single-track through forested terrain.

The trail offers bluff views of the Tennessee River and sections with cascading streams. Vegetation along the route includes rhododendron and towering hemlock, and parts of the trail are described as highly technical single-track.

Distances:

  • 20 Miler - Mullens Cove and Pot Point loops, elevation around 3000 ft.
  • 10.2 Miler - loop route, elevation around 2000 ft.
  • 6.5 Miler - shorter loop, elevation around 1500 ft.

Logistics include an early packet pickup on the Friday before the race at Hello Monty on Main and race day packet pickup at the Mullens Cove parking lot. Registration is online only and there is no walk-up registration on race day. Registration closes the evening before the event.

Cutoff times are set for each distance. An awards ceremony begins immediately after the race with overall awards for male and female 1st through 3rd place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
