Event overview
The Bad Beard Events Rabid Raccoon 25K is a trail race in Chattanooga, Tennessee, held on January 17, 2026. The course begins atop Raccoon Mountain at Laurel Point and runs on the north and western side of the mountain. Trails used include Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 & 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. For 2026 the course direction is counter-clockwise. The race has a five-hour time limit for completion. All finishers receive a campfire mug. Awards are given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall female and male finishers.
Logistics and rules
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race and on race day at the Start/Finish area; locations are listed by the organizer. This is a cupless race: runners must bring their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. There will be two aid stations providing water, Gatorade, and common trail race food items such as bars, gels, and snacks. Medical coverage is provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service. Post-race food and beverages are available. Dogs are not permitted on the course. There are no refunds and bib numbers may not be transferred; bib-swapping results in disqualification.
