About the race
The Rabid Raccoon 25K is a middle-distance trail race hosted by Bad Beard Events in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 9, 2027. The course starts at Laurel Point on Raccoon Mountain and runs across the north and west sides of the mountain.
The route uses named trails including Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. The race direction changes year to year; the 2027 edition runs clockwise. Runners have a five hour cutoff to complete the course. All finishers receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post-race food.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Hello Monty on Main Street and on race day at the start/finish area. This is a cupless race; all runners must carry their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. There are two aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and typical trail race snacks such as granola bars, gels, gummy bears, and chips.
Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service. Awards are given to the first, second, and third overall male and female finishers. A portion of proceeds benefits SORBA Chattanooga, whose mission includes trail access, preservation, and development. Volunteers staff race operations. There are no refunds and bibs may not be transferred; bib swapping results in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
