About the race
The Rabid Raccoon, hosted by Bad Beard Events, is a 25K trail race on Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course starts at Laurel Point and runs around the north and west sides of the mountain.
The route uses named singletrack and connector trails, including Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. The event changes direction each year; the 2027 running will be clockwise. Runners receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post race food. Awards are given to the top three overall female and male finishers.
This is a cupless race. All runners must bring their own hydration pack or hand held bottle. Two aid stations will offer water, Gatorade, and common trail race snacks such as granola bars, gels, and candy. Medical support is provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service. Participants have a five hour time limit to complete the course.
Packet pickup options are listed for the day before and race day: early pickup on January 8 at Hello Monty on Main Street, and race day pickup at the start area. Registration closes on January 7 at 11:59 PM ET. A portion of proceeds benefits SORBA Chattanooga. Dogs are not permitted on course. There are no refunds and bibs may not be transferred.
