Back Your Badge Marathon : Plainfield, IN
The Back Your Badge Marathon is a community running event held in Plainfield, Indiana on September 18–19, 2027. It is the 4th annual edition and is presented to honor and support Public Safety Agencies - Police, Fire, and Communications. The event uses a USA Track & Field Certified course that traverses historic US 40, the Plainfield Parks Trail System, and routes past local police, fire, and communications facilities.
Distances offered:
- Marathon : 26.2 Miles
- Half Marathon : 13.1 Miles
- 5K : 5K
- Kids Fun Run : choice of 1/2 Mile or 1 Mile for children 11 and younger
Participants may choose an agency to represent; each completed mile adds to that agency’s team total. The agency with the most combined miles receives a traveling trophy. Registration details in the event information show openings and deadlines in November 2026 for most races and specific registration timing for the Kids Fun Run on the event date. Fees listed for the races are $65 for the Marathon, $55 for the Half Marathon, $30 for the 5K, and free for the Kids Fun Run. Age minimums are noted for some races: 16 and older for the Marathon, and 10 and older for the Half Marathon.
Proceeds from the event support Public Safety Beneficent Programs, Local Youth Assistance Programs, and the Back Your Badge Paramedic Scholarship Fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
