Back Your Badge Marathon
The Back Your Badge Marathon is a two-day running event in Plainfield, Indiana, taking place September 19–20, 2026 at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center. The event is sponsored by the Town of Plainfield to honor and support local Public Safety Agencies: police, fire, and communications. Distances offered include runners and families.

The courses are USA Track & Field certified and highlight historic US 40, the Plainfield Parks Trail System, and routes that pass local police, fire, and communications facilities. Participants choose an agency to represent; each completed mile adds to that agency’s team total and the team with the most miles receives a traveling trophy. Event proceeds support Public Safety Beneficent Programs, Local Youth Assistance Programs, and the Back Your Badge Paramedic Scholarship Fund.
Event features vary by distance. The marathon is listed as a Boston qualifying certified course with 16 aid stations, overall cash and age group awards, and a 7 hour cutoff. The half marathon includes 7 aid stations, awards, and a 4 hour cutoff. The 5K lists 2 aid stations and family and stroller friendly options. The Kids Fun Run is a free event for ages 0 to 11 with half mile and one mile options, parents may join, and a finisher medal. Finish line activities include a victory party and beer garden.
