Back Your Badge Marathon - Plainfield, IN
The Back Your Badge Marathon is a two-day event on September 19–20, 2026, sponsored by the Town of Plainfield to honor and support public safety agencies: police, fire, and communications. This is the fourth annual event and it combines road and trail running with a community team format.
The event base is the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center in Plainfield, IN 46168, USA. Distances offered include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 5k
- Kids Fun Run for ages 0-11, 1/2 mile and 1 mile options
The main courses are USA Track & Field certified; the marathon course is certified as a Boston qualifying course. Course routing highlights historic US 40, the Plainfield Parks Trail System, paved trails and local roads, and passages by police, fire, and communications facilities. Aid station details noted by the organizer include multiple stations along each distance.
Each participant selects a public safety agency to represent and every mile logged adds to that agency’s total. The agency with the most combined miles receives a traveling trophy. Proceeds support Public Safety Beneficent Programs, Local Youth Assistance Programs, and the Back Your Badge Paramedic Scholarship Fund.
