Back the Blue 5K, Deer Park, TX
Back the Blue 5K is the sixth annual community 5K held in Deer Park and La Porte, Texas at the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center, 500 W 13th St. The event features a 5K Fun Run of approximately 3.1 miles and is followed by the Back the Blue BBQ & Festival.
The event brings local officers together with the community and provides support for the men & women in blue. Participation is open to the public; current law enforcement officers may request a discount code in advance.
Registration opens May 27. Participants who register by October 6 are guaranteed a race t-shirt; leftover shirts may be available on race morning. Packet pickup is planned for October 15 and October 16, with exact times to be determined.
The exact race route is under review and will be posted later. The course terrain is expected to remain on level roadway.
All proceeds from the event go to the Deer Park Police Officer's Association (501c4). The 5K is scheduled to take place alongside the annual BBQ cook-off and festival, which offers additional activities after the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
