About the race
The Back the Blue 5K is the sixth annual community 5K held in Deer Park and La Porte, Texas on October 17, 2026. The event is based at the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center, 500 W 13th St, Deer Park, TX 77536.
The event features a single 5K (3.1 Miles) run on level roadway. A route map was provided by the organizers. Registration fee is listed as $30. The last day to register and receive a race t-shirt is September 28. If shirts remain they may be available race morning after 8:30 AM. Extra race shirts could be purchased with the same September 28 cutoff and picked up during packet pickup.
Packet pickup takes place at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. If someone picks up a packet for another runner, the exact spelling and name used at registration must be provided to organizers.
Participation is open to non law enforcement. Current law enforcement officers were asked to email the organizers ahead of time for a discount code. All proceeds benefit the Deer Park Police Officer's Association, a 501c4 organization.
The 5K precedes the main Back the Blue BBQ and Festival, which includes a BBQ cook off and other festival activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
