About the race
The Back the Blue 5K is the sixth annual 5K Fun Run held on October 17, 2026 at the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center, 500 W 13th St, Deer Park, Texas. The event distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the course follows level roadway.
The event brings together local officers and community members and directs all 5K proceeds to the Deer Park Police Officer's Association (501c4). Participation is open to the public; current law enforcement officers may request a discount code prior to the event.
Registration opens May 27, 2026 and closes August 1, 2026. The listed registration fee is $30. Registrations made after September 28 are handled on a first come, first serve basis for race t-shirt allocation. Extra race t-shirts purchased in advance can be picked up during packet pickup.
Packet pickup takes place at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center on Thursday October 15 and Friday October 16 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. If picking up a packet for another participant, the exact name used at registration must be provided and the participant should be notified immediately.
Awards are given to the first place male and female in these age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus. Overall first place male and female are recognized and are not eligible to also win an age group prize.
The 5K takes place alongside the Back the Blue BBQ and Festival, which includes BBQ plates, a kids zone, a car show, and indoor vendors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
