Back the Badge 5K - Boerne
Back the Badge 5K is scheduled for October 31, 2026, in Boerne, Texas, at 1307 River Rd and uses nearby locations including the Kendall County Fairgrounds, Rails for Trails #9 Line, and the Cibolo Nature Center. The event returns after a one-year break and supports the Boerne Police Department and Kendall County law enforcement agencies.
Distances offered:
- Back the Badge 5K - 3.1 Miles
- Law Enforcement Only 5K - 3.1 Miles
The course combines several surfaces: initial dirt near the fairgrounds, paved rails-to-trails sections, and soft, well-maintained nature center trails. Leashed dogs and strollers are allowed; participants with strollers are asked to yield to runners when necessary. Packet pick-up is race day only. Registered participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal.
Awards are given for overall and masters positions plus age-group awards in 10-year increments: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. A separate Law Enforcement Only 5K includes a three-person team challenge with one team per department, combined times determining the winner and a special prize for the top team. Registration fees are listed for each event and are non-refundable. The event is held rain or shine; portions of the course may be altered if conditions require protection of participants or trails.
