New Year's Day Run in Helotes
La Cruda, also known as The Hangover, is an annual running event held on January 1 in Helotes, Texas. The event takes place in the Old Town Helotes area, with the race site located at 14391 Old Bandera Road. Participants can choose between two different distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The event provides gender-specific tech shirts for participants who register by the mid-December deadline. Finisher medals are awarded to the first 1200 participants who complete the course. The course route utilizes the streets of Old Town Helotes.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in the Masters category (ages 40 and over). Additionally, the event recognizes the first, second, and third-place finishers in various age groups, ranging from the 1-20 bracket up to 80 and over.
The registration structure includes options for adults and children aged 4 to 11, while children aged 3 and under may participate for free when accompanied by a paid adult. Early packet pick-up is organized in late December, with additional opportunities to collect materials on the morning of the event at the race site.
