Back On The Ranch Trail Run

Back On The Ranch Trail Run is a multi-day timed running event held at the private Sand Creek Ranch in Los Olivos, California, from October 2 to 4, 2026. It is the ninth annual edition and takes place on a 3.4 mile loop course with approximately 400 ft of elevation gain per lap. The surface is a mix of hard pack dirt road and soft single track, about 95 percent dirt, and is described as runnable subject to weather.

Participants complete as many 3.4 mile laps as possible within their chosen timed segment. A well stocked aid station is located on course every 3.4 miles and support is available at personal camps. Camping and parking are free, with dispersed campsites available on a first come basis; primitive tent camping, car camping, RVs and trailers are permitted. There are no hookups and no running water.

All entrants receive a custom souvenir tee shirt and a custom finisher amulet. Awards are presented to the top male and female in each division. Western style trophy buckles are awarded to 24 hour or 48 hour runners who reach 100 miles. The event access gate coordinates are 34°41'52.4"N 120°09'04.8"W.
