Course and features
Both the half marathon and the relay start at the corner of Atterdag Road and Laurel Avenue, passing Hans Christian Andersen Park and descending into a canyon. The route goes through Los Olivos, includes an ascent and descent at Corkscrew Hill, and passes more than seven vineyards. The finish line is located in the center of Solvang.
The route passes through windmill-dotted towns and flower-bedded vineyards. The course notes mention local flora and fauna, including butterflies and bulls. The finish area includes a Wine Festival where local wines from nearby vineyards are available for sampling; this is offered as an add-on to an entry.
