Event overview

Bachelor Ascent takes place September 12, 2026 at Mt. Bachelor Ski Area in the Deschutes National Forest, about 20 minutes west of Bend, Oregon. The event uses volcanic alpine terrain and includes multiple loop courses that ascend to the mountain summit near 9,000 feet. Courses offered are mountain trail routes and a straight up Vertical Ascent 5K. The event venue for Saturday activities is Mt. Bachelor’s West Village area. The race is held in a mountain environment where weather can change rapidly.

Registration, logistics and services

Registration opens February 1. Entry fees vary by distance and by registration period. The registration fee includes a fully marked race course, parking, chip timing and results, staffed aid stations, medical support and communications, post-race food and beverages, a custom finisher award, livestream production and professional photography. Mandatory gear requirements may be implemented depending on the weather forecast. RV and car camping is allowed on the paved parking area at Mt. Bachelor on the Friday night before the race with an overnight use fee paid to Mt. Bachelor; the nearest lodging is in Bend, 20 minutes away. Volunteers are solicited and signups will be available on the event registration platform.
