Babcock Shettleston 10K
The Babcock Shettleston 10K is a long-standing event, now in its 43rd year, and serves as the first race in the Babcock series. In 2026, the race will also host the Scottish 10K Championships. This Scottish Athletics permit event is organized by Shettleston Harriers and takes place at Glasgow Green.
The event features two distances:
- 10 km
- 2 km Fun Run
The 10 km course is flat and traffic-free, designed to support runners seeking personal best performances. Participants follow a route around Glasgow Green, passing several historical landmarks including the People's Palace and the Royal Doulton fountain. The competition for the primary distance is open to those aged 16 years and older.
Participants in the main race receive a unique commemorative medal, a goody bag containing running accessories, and a specific piece of event merchandise. Financial prizes totaling £6,000 are awarded to leading individuals across the entire series, and spot prizes are also provided. The 2 km Fun Run is intended for children and includes a medal, a bottle of water, and a biscuit for finishers.
The event location at Free Wheel North within the Glasgow Green Cycling Centre offers practical facilities for attendees, including ample parking and public toilets located around the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
