Event Details
The Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run takes place in Myrtle Beach. The event is scheduled for June 21, 2026. It includes two options: an in-person run/walk and a virtual run/walk.
Course and Format
The run is an untimed event. Participants start and finish on the sand at Plyler Park. The course heads north for approximately half a mile before turning back to the start. The event happens on the beach regardless of the tide. Course monitors provide direction along the route.
Post-Race Activities
After finishing, there is a gathering at Plyler Park with music and food. Each participant receives a complimentary hotdog, chips, and soda or water.
Event Theme and Rules
A costume theme encourages participants to dress in 80s attire. Those dressed in theme are entered into a costume raffle prize drawing. Animals and wheeled devices, including strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, and unauthorized bicycles, are not permitted on the course.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is only available online and closes on the day of the event. Packet pickup is available on the Saturday before at a specified location and on race day at Plyler Park. Parking is available at metered spots adjacent to Ocean Boulevard and in a paid garage. Public restrooms are located across the street from the park.
