Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Boardwalk Run presented by Moe Moon's
The event is an 80s themed, un-timed 1-mile boardwalk run and walk on the Myrtle Beach boardwalk at Plyler Park (1100 N Ocean Blvd). The course begins on the boardwalk at Plyler Park, heads south toward the 2nd Ave Pier, and returns to the boardwalk. Course monitors will provide direction along the route. There is no water stop on course.
There are in-person and virtual options. The virtual option does not require submission of results and race swag for virtual participants will be shipped within two weeks after the event. Registration is available online; fees listed by the organizer include $25 for the in-person option and $55 for the virtual option.
Event features provided to participants include a participant bib, a shirt while supplies last, a participant medal, and a hotdog, chips, and soda or water compliments of Moe Moon's. A timing clock will be posted at the finish, but no overall or age-group awards will be given. Participants dressed in 80s attire are entered into a costume raffle.
The event lists Help 4 Kids/Backpack Buddies as a nonprofit partner and describes its mission to provide food for hungry children in Horry County. Participants are asked to consider bringing donated items such as single-serve cereal, mac and cheese cups, bread, peanut butter and jelly, pudding cups, popsicles not frozen, Toastee Chee crackers, single-serve chips, canned pasta, Vienna sausages, granola bars, and Kool-Aid.
Additional notes from the organizer state packet pickup locations at Native Sons (1519 Executive Avenue) and at Plyler Park, metered parking adjacent to Ocean Blvd and the Lanier paid parking garage on 9th Avenue N, and public restrooms across the street from Plyler Park and the SkyWheel. Animals, strollers, baby joggers, skateboards, roller blades, unauthorized bicycles, and other wheeled devices are not permitted on the race course and may result in disqualification.
