AVL Runway 5K at Asheville Regional Airport
The AVL Runway 5K is a five-kilometer foot race held on the airfield at Asheville Regional Airport in Arden, NC on October 3, 2026. The course uses Taxiway Bravo beside the active runway, offering a flat, out-and-back route that runs along the airfield near the airport’s control tower.
Race activities and participant parking are staged at the northwest corner of the airport. Parking is located across from Corcoran River Park at 9 Pinner Road, Arden, and shuttles provide access to the race venue; walking from the parking area is not permitted. For 2026, all runners and spectators must pass a stadium-style security screening in the parking area before boarding shuttles or entering the venue. Small or clear bags are recommended and certain items will be prohibited.
There will be no aid stations on the course; participants may carry reusable water bottles and must retain them during the race. A bag drop area will be available next to Registration. Pets, bicycles, in-line skates and roller skates are not allowed on the course. Wheelchairs and jogging strollers are permitted but must start toward the back of the field.
Packet pick-up is scheduled on Wednesday, September 30 at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, with additional packet pick-up on race day at the registration tent. Race shirts are guaranteed to registrants by September 7; afterwards shirts are available while supplies last. The event is capped at 1,000 participants. Proceeds support aviation education initiatives and local nonprofit organizations. Awards will be presented to overall, masters and age-group finishers, including brackets from 12 and under through 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
