AVL Runway 5K
The AVL Runway 5K is a timed road event held on October 3, 2026, at Asheville Regional Airport (9 Pinner Road, Arden, NC). The course runs directly on the airport airfield along Taxiway Bravo, adjacent to the active runway and near the airport’s new air traffic control tower. The route uses an out-and-back pattern on the taxiway with the finish on the airfield.
The race is limited to 1,000 participants. Event parking is at a designated lot across from Corcoran River Park (use 9 Pinner Road for directions); shuttles transport participants and supporters to the race venue and are the only permitted access to the event site. All runners and spectators must pass a stadium-style security screening in the parking area before boarding shuttles or entering the venue.
Because the airfield must remain free of debris, there are no aid stations on course. Runners may carry their own water in reusable containers and must not discard items on the airfield. A bag drop is available next to registration at the race venue. Packet pickup is scheduled before race day at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and also at the race venue.
Spectators may view the event at the finish area where a music stage and food trucks will be located; food trucks accept credit cards only. The event uses bib timing and awards top overall, master, and age-group finishers across a range of age brackets. Pets are not allowed on site.
