The Avenue of the Giants events take place in Humboldt Redwoods State Park near Arcata, California, with a listed location at Dyerville Bridge Overlook. The weekend includes multiple race distances and is staged along the scenic "Avenue of the Giants."
Distances
- Full marathon on a double out and back paved course.
- Half marathon on an out and back paved course.
- 10K entirely on paved roads.
The roads are lined with 300 foot tall old growth redwood trees that provide shade and cooler morning temperatures. The trees can sometimes block GPS signals on running watches. The full marathon course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston qualifying event.
Race logistics and awards include medals for each finisher, overall prizes for top finishers with non binary recognition in the full and half marathon, and age group awards in ten year bands with 19 and under in the half marathon. Age group awards are distributed near the finish area.
The organizing group describes itself as independently green and not associated with corporate sponsors. Entry fees vary by registration date and early registration offers a lower price.
