Avenue of the Giants : 2026 event
The 54th annual Avenue of the Giants marathon weekend is scheduled for May 3, 2026, in Humboldt Redwoods State Park near Arcata, California. The event is staged on The Avenue of the Giants and lists the Dyerville Bridge Overlook / Weott area as the location.

Course and competition
The courses are entirely on paved roads. The marathon is a double out-and-back and the half marathon is an out-and-back. Roads are lined with old growth redwood trees, reported to reach about 300 feet tall, and the route follows a natural creek in the state park. The trees provide shade and cool temperatures and can sometimes block GPS signals on running watches. The course is USATF certified and the marathon is a Boston Qualifier.
Awards and race-day details
Overall prizes are awarded to the top finishing male, female, and non-binary athletes in the full and half marathon. Age groups are in 10-year increments; the half marathon includes a 19-and-under category. Each finisher receives a medal. Only first-place trophies are presented in the 10K. Age group awards are distributed at the timers tent near the finish line.
Registration and fees
Entry fees are tiered. Posted rates include: Marathon : $100 (early), $120 (mid), $145 (late); Half Marathon : $80, $100, $125; 10K : $60, $70, $75. The 2026 events are listed as full with waiting lists available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
