Autumn Run : Buena Vista, Colorado
The Autumn Run is an annual running event held each year on the third weekend in September in and around Buena Vista, Colorado. The course runs through the upper Arkansas River Valley near the base of the Collegiate Peaks and is organized around McPhelemy Park at the corner of Highway 24 and West Main Street.
Available distances and activities include:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Family Fun Run free with no registration required
Registration is completed online and accepts cards only; registration may close early if participant caps are reached. Shuttle service to the start is provided and is recommended because roadside parking near the start is limited. Stroller policy: littles who ride in strollers need not register, and strollers are allowed on several runs; half marathon participants who use a stroller must provide their own transportation to the start line.
Animals are not allowed on course due to race insurance. Dogs may be kept near the Start/Finish area if controlled, kept at least 20 feet from the start and finish, and kept on a leash.
Place awards are given to the top three male and female finishers of each run. All participants receive a race shirt, a commemorative finisher award, and a collapsible reusable speed cup as part of a cupless sustainable racing program.
A portion of proceeds is donated to beneficiaries and additional donations are accepted. The event operates under a special use permit with the Pike San Isabel National Forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
