About the race
The Autumn Run is an annual running event held the third weekend in September in and around Buena Vista, Colorado, in the upper Arkansas River Valley near the Collegiate Peaks. The program offers multiple distances and community activities organized around McPhelemy Park and Town Lake.
The event distances include:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Family Fun Run
Registration is completed digitally and online with card payment only; registration may close early if participant caps are met. Packet pickup is offered the Friday before the race at McPhelemy Park and on race day at McPhelemy Park. Shuttles are provided and encouraged to reduce crowding at the start area because on-street parking is limited. Several runs are stroller friendly; children who ride in strollers do not need separate registration, and half marathon participants using strollers must provide their own transportation to the start.
Course materials include maps, elevation profiles, fuel station information, portable toilet locations, and cutoffs. Place awards are given to the top three male and female finishers of each run. All participants receive a race shirt, a commemorative finisher award, a drink token, and a reusable collapsible speed cup as part of a cupless sustainable racing program.
A portion of proceeds is donated to event beneficiaries. Animals are not allowed on race courses and must be kept controlled and leashed near the Start/Finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
