About the race
The Austerlitz Trail is a trail running event based at the KNVB Campus in the Staatsbossen near Zeist on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Routes start and finish at the campus and lead directly into the surrounding forest and heathland via specially opened gates by the training fields of the national team. The course area runs through mixed forest, old tree-lined lanes and open sections, and reaches the border of the Bornia nature area. The terrain includes some elevation, single-track sections and varied paths.
All routes are fully marked with arrows and tape and there is a central basecamp at the KNVB Campus where the aid station is located. The event format uses three loops of about 10 km each. Participants may choose to run one, two or three loops, producing distances around 10 km, 20 km or 30 km. Practical notes from the organiser: aid is provided after each loop at the start/finish, no disposable cups are supplied so participants should bring a racecup, and medals are available as an extra purchase.
