About the race
The MarchMingle International Walking Festival is a non‑competitive two‑day walking festival held in Canberra, ACT, from 19–21 March 2027 with headquarters at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. The program combines social functions, intercultural connection and a range of walking distances over urban and bush terrain. A Flag Parade and Opening Ceremony feature an international procession to the Canberra Rotary World Peace Bell, and a Closing Ceremony and farewell function conclude the event.
The festival presents a mix of trail hikes and city walks. Saturday routes include a 42.2 km marathon hike mostly on bush trails, a 21 km trail hike that combines trail and formed surfaces, a 12 km city walk on paved surfaces, and a 7 km family‑friendly Aussie Peace Walk. Sunday routes include a 24 km nature path hike, a 12 km city walk, and a 7 km Aussie Peace Walk. Entry for several longer routes includes a bus transfer to the start point; most routes finish back at Event HQ.
MarchMingle emphasizes cross‑cultural friendship and community; Canberra’s diplomatic presence is part of the festival identity, with over 100 foreign representations noted in prior years. The event is delivered by LifeSmith Pty Ltd as a profit‑for‑purpose project and lists the Rotary Vulnerable Youth Project among its charity partners.
