Event overview
The Daleside Auld Lang Syne Fell Race takes place on 31 December 2025 in Haworth, West Yorkshire. The event is organised by Wharfedale Harriers. The race distance is 10.7 kilometres with about 1,000 feet of ascent and descent. The course is hilly and usually includes mud, boggy ground and at least one stream crossing. The event is sponsored by Daleside Brewery; each runner receives a bottle of Daleside Old Legover when collecting their number. Many runners wear fancy dress. The entry fee is £14.00. Entry is pre-entry only, with a limit of 450 runners, no refunds and no transfers. Only registered runners may take part.
Course, kit and facilities
The single-lap route starts from the quarry bottom on Penistone Hill and follows the Bronte Way, passes Middle Intake Farm and Upper Heights, goes by the ruins of Top Withins, reaches the summit of Delf Hill and the trig point, then descends across swampy ground and returns to the cricket pitch finish. Race HQ is the Old Cricket Club at Penistone Hill Country Park, near Haworth, Keighley (Grid Ref 025 364). The race is run under FRA rules and there may be random kit checks. FRA mandatory kit includes waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves and a whistle. Facilities on site include toilets; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing facilities, showers or baggage store. The course crosses private land under special permission.
