ATW Big East & Maldon Triathlon
ATW Big East & Maldon Triathlon is a multi‑distance triathlon event at Promenade Park, Maldon, Essex. The programme includes a Middle Distance race and classic Standard and Sprint distances, with Aquabike and Relay options available across all distances.
Distances:
- Middle Distance: 1.5 km swim, 86 km bike, 20 km run
- Standard Distance: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint Distance: 750 m swim, 25 km bike, 5 km run
The swim takes place on a 750 m looped tidal course that starts beside the statue of Byrhtnoth and heads toward Northey Island. The bike course is non draft legal and follows quiet roads of the Dengie Peninsula, passing Latchingdon, Tillingham, Steeple and Mayland. The run is a flat 5 km loop along the promenade and sea wall footpath, returning via Promenade Park; surfaces include paved paths, grass and gravel track.
There is a strict swim cut off of 1 hour 10 minutes and an overall event cut off of 8 hours. Transgender athletes are welcome. All finishers receive a medal and additional finish line items.
