The Atomic Multisport Event by Personal Best Racing
The Atomic Multisport Event takes place at the TVA Melton Hill Dam area in Lenoir City, TN. The program includes multiple race formats held at the dam and adjacent park facilities, with transition and finish areas near the campground and park access road.
Participants can use packet pickup and late registration at the race site on the day before and on race morning. Parking is arranged in lower lots below the dam; an upper bath house lot may be used for gear drop off but not long term parking. Additional parking is available at the Overlook. Melton Hill Campground is located across the park access road from transition and finish.
Swim courses use a wave start from just outside the swim area at the dam end. The Half Iron swim is a two loop rectangle; swimmers must remain in the water to complete the first loop and may exit only after the second loop. Buoys are to the swimmer's right. Water temperature is listed as approximately 73.
Bike and run courses have been modified to stay around the dam. The run route leaves the campground/transition, proceeds to 58, crosses the bridge, returns down the other side of the dam to a turnaround, and heads back. The Half Iron run completes two loops. Cutoff limits for the Half Iron are noted from the start of the final starter: swim 1:15, bike 5:15, run halfway point 7:15.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Personal Best Racing enforces a no refund policy; race insurance is available. Event shirts are not guaranteed for registrations within two weeks of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
