Athena's Run for GYN Cancer
Athena's Run for GYN Cancer is a community event built around a 5K race and a non timed runner/walker option to recognize and support women affected by gynecologic cancers. The event aims to increase public awareness about these cancers and to raise funds for education, advocacy, patient care and research. The stated vision is to end gynecologic cancers through prevention, early detection and effective treatment.
The event takes place on September 19, 2026, at 4061 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, North Carolina 27102. Two participation options are offered: a 5K race and a non timed runner/walker category called Proud in the Crowd. Registration for the 5K opens April 14, 2026, and registration for the non timed runner/walker option opens April 13, 2026; registration closes July 1, 2026. Listed fees are $35.00 for the 5K and $25.00 for the non timed option.
Founded in 2010, Athena’s Run has raised nearly $500,000 over its first decade. Funds are used locally and nationally to support education and advocacy, to improve care for women, and to support research efforts. The Warriors for Wellness Expo runs alongside the event into the afternoon and includes community resources, nonprofit organizations, giveaways and raffles, and local vendors selling handmade items. Food vendors mentioned for the day include a coffee truck, Beef's Smokehouse, and Sunset Slush Forsyth. The expo is open to the general public.
