About the race
Asylum Pride House presents its third annual Welcome Walk, a community event held at the Ott Center indoor track at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The event consists of a walk or run of 5K around the Ott Center track to raise funds and show physical support for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers in Philadelphia.
Registration is offered with a reduced fee of $20 through the end of August and increases to $30 afterward. Registration opens on August 1, 2026 and closes on August 31, 2026. The registration fee includes a Welcome Walk 2026 T shirt. Every registrant receives an individual fundraising page; fundraising is optional. Participants may create or join teams.
Organizers collect additional support in the form of individual donations, peer fundraising, and a drive for cleaning and housing supplies to be brought on the day of the walk. Coffee and pastries will be provided before the walk begins. Organizers indicate that cost should not prevent participation and offer assistance for those with financial need.
