Event Overview
The ASL-for-All 5K (Walk, Run & Roll) is a fundraising event in its third annual year. It aims to celebrate and support the development of Olathe as a Shared Signing Community, where Deaf and non-Deaf people connect through sign language. The event is open to everyone, regardless of signing ability.
Event Details
The main event is a 5K that takes place on the Indian Creek Trail, starting and ending at Frontier Park in Olathe, Kansas. Water and light refreshments are provided to all registered participants.
Following the 5K, there are two fun runs for children:
- Tots-Fun-Run: A 50-yard dash for children aged 6 and under.
- Kids-Fun-Run: A 100-yard dash for children aged 7 to 10.
After the runs, an ASL Festival is held at the park, featuring community booths and live ASL performances.
Registration and Logistics
Registration fees are listed per person. The standard fee for the 5K is $30, increasing to $35 after September 5. A discounted rate of $25 per person is available for families or groups of 4 to 10, increasing to $30 after September 5. Each fun run costs $10 ($15 after September 5). A 50% discount is available for middle school, high school, and college students; a coupon code must be requested.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, September 25, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture in Olathe. Participants registering after September 12 are not guaranteed a race t-shirt or their preferred size.
