Ashland Balloonfest 5K
The Ashland Balloonfest 5K takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with Freer Field serving as the start and finish area at 1301 Park St, Ashland, OH 44805. The event is organized by the Ashland Cross Country Parents Organization and is the 31st edition of the race. Mid Ohio Race Management will provide chip timing.

Proceeds from the 5K benefit Ashland High School and Ashland Middle School cross-country teams and support fundraising for those athletes. The event includes a free kids Fun Run with online registration open May 1 through June 24, 2026, and on-site registration available for the Fun Run.
Registration for the 5K is priced at $30. T-shirts are guaranteed only for participants who register by June 10, 2026. Packet pick-up is available Thursday, June 25 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Spreng Smith Insurance Agency, 320 College Avenue, Ashland, OH, and on race day near the start area from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Same day 5K registration is accepted and may be paid by cash, check, or Zelle.
Porta-potties will be available. Parking is available on public side streets; the small parking lot at Freer Field is not available for event parking. Roads will be blocked with volunteers at roadblocks and police presence for safety. A brief awards ceremony will be held for race participants, with medals for top finishers in multiple age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
