Thanksgiving Day Classic
The Thanksgiving Day Classic is a set of road races held at the Peoria Sports Complex. The event features three distances:
- 10 Mile
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 10 Mile and 5K are run on certified courses. All finishers in each event receive a custom finisher medal. A long-sleeve technical race shirt is included with adult registrations for the 5K and 10 Mile and for all 1 Mile participants; youth shirts are available for an additional fee and sizes may be limited.
Awards for the 5K and 10 Mile include pies for the top three finishers in each age group. The event uses standard age-group categories for awards and holds awards ceremonies after the races; any remaining pies are distributed to participants who remain for the awards and did not win.
A portion of race proceeds is donated to the Peoria Diamond Club, which provides grants to local charities including Special Olympics Arizona. The organizer also collects unwrapped toys for the Peoria Toy Drive; donations may be dropped off at packet pickup locations or on race morning.
Strollers and baby joggers are permitted but must start at the back of the pack for safety. Packet pickup is available at scheduled locations including the Peoria Sports Complex. Registration is handled online only; there are no paper registrations on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
