Around the Bend Ten

Event Overview
The Around the Bend Ten(K) is part of the Around the Bend Five & Ten event happening on October 3, 2026. The event supports the First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains' free community food pantry, "The Blessing Box," and contributes to Tennessee Endurance to support local running athletes. The primary events are:
- Around the Bend Ten(K) – a 10K run.
- Half The Bend Five(K) – a 5K run.
- Mile Fun Run – a one-mile run/walk for participants ten and under, or adults.
Race Details
Both the 5K and 10K courses start at the intersection of Old Dandridge Pike & Old Andrew Johnson Highway. The 5K course is an out-and-back route with a total elevation gain of 150 ft. The 10K is a looped route with an elevation gain of less than 250 ft over the entire distance. The 1-mile route is for kids or adults who wish to walk or run.
Participant Information
All 5K and 10K registrants receive a custom event T-shirt if they sign up before September 21, 2026. Participants can pick up race numbers and shirts on race morning from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM. Referral programs offer a partial refund if a participant brings five others.
Age group awards for the 5K and 10K are given in 10-year increments. Kids in the mile run receive a special finisher gift. Water stations are available at approximately mile 1.5 and mile 3 (for the 10K), offering water only. Restrooms are available near the start/finish area, but not on the course.
Logistics
Parking is available on the west side of the church parking lot and the rear parking areas of Rush Strong School. The east side is closed for the race finish. Walkers are encouraged for the mile or 5K events only, and strollers are only permitted in the 1-mile event. Pets are not allowed in any event.
