Arnold 5K Run Walk, Arnold 5K Pump & Run and Arnold Ruck
The event is part of the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio at 400 N. High Street. All main race options cover a 5K distance and include an official event shirt, a finisher medal, a race bib, free race photos, and admission to the Arnold Expo on Sunday, March 8 valued at $60.
Three participation formats are offered: the Arnold 5K Run Walk, the Arnold 5K Pump & Run, and the Arnold Ruck. Arnold Ruck participants must complete the 5K while carrying at least 15 pounds in a weighted vest, ruck sack, or equivalent. The Arnold 5K Pump & Run requires a bench press before the run; athletes bench press a percentage of body weight for up to 30 reps. Each successful lift reduces the 5K run time by 30 seconds, with a field limit of 1,200 athletes. Age and gender divisions apply; men must bench press from 60 to 100 percent of their weight and women from 40 to 70 percent depending on age. U.S. Military ROTC members and drill instructors oversee the bench press stations. Weigh in and lifting take place before the running portion.
