Area 51k Trail Race
Area 51k is a trail running event held on the Area 51 Trail System in Hernando, Mississippi. The event offers two distances and uses flowing single-track with punchy climbs, fast descents, and winding wooded trails. The course averages nearly 100 feet of elevation gain per mile and is described as highly runnable while rewarding controlled pacing. Distances are approximate and may vary on the trails.

The 25K and 51K courses are looped so runners pass the main aid station at the start/finish area multiple times; the design results in three passes of that aid station for the longer distance. There is an additional water and electrolyte station on the back section of the loop.
Organizers introduced an entry fee for this edition. Registration revenue supports race amenities including a custom finisher medal, race shirt, well-stocked aid stations, post-race food, and additional race swag. The event also supports the trail network maintained by the North Mississippi Trail Alliance and involves volunteers who staff the course and aid stations.
