About the race
Area 51k is a trail race held on September 12, 2026 in Hernando, Mississippi, centered on the Area 51 Trail System near 8900 US‑Highway 51. The event offers looped courses on single‑track trails through wooded terrain. The course features flowing single‑track, punchy climbs, fast descents, and winding wooded sections. Organizers report nearly 100 feet of elevation gain per mile and describe the route as highly runnable.
Distances are approximate and may vary on the trails. Participants follow loop formats: the 25K uses two loops on the Voyager trail and the 51K uses four loops. The main aid station is at the start/finish area and will be passed three times on the 51K; there is an additional water and electrolyte station on the back section of the loop.
