Area 51K Trail Race
Area 51K is a trail running event in Hernando, Mississippi scheduled for September 12, 2026. The race uses the Area 51 Trail System and takes place on single-track trails through wooded terrain near US Highway 51.
Runners can choose from these distances:
- 25K: two loops on the Voyager trail.
- 51K: four loops on the Voyager trail.
The course features flowing single-track, punchy climbs, fast descents, and winding wooded sections. Elevation gain is described as nearly 100 feet per mile, and distances are approximate because trail routes can vary. The looped format brings runners past the main aid station at the start and finish area three times, with an additional water and electrolyte station on the back section of the loop.
An entry fee has been introduced. Registration fees support race amenities such as a custom finisher medal, race shirt, well-stocked aid stations, post-race food, and additional race swag.
