About the race
The APTS Community 5k is a chip-timed running event organized by Bishops Events at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, VA. The Lake Accotink to Byron Avenue course is described as a scenic, flat, paved out-and-back route; the 10k uses the 5k course twice. Points earned at this event count toward the Year-Long 5k & Back of the Pack Series and the Summer Series.

Walkers and strollers are welcome. Registered participants receive a finisher’s medal and an event shirt; the event includes guaranteed t-shirts for registrations before September 9 and will order extras on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fees increase by $5 on the morning of the race; an earlier tier fee is noted on the event page.
Logistics and services include one water station on the 5k course near mile 1.55, restrooms at the top of the hill near the beach, packet pickup at the event, race day registration, live results via Athlinks with a QR code at the venue, and runner tracking via SMS. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to top three finishers in standard age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
