Apple Dumpling Day Races
The Apple Dumpling Day Races take place in Elroy, Wisconsin, held in conjunction with the local Apple Dumpling Days celebration on the first Saturday after Labor Day. Organized by the Elroy Lions Club, this event has expanded since its inception in 2007 to include a variety of distances for different participants. The event is centered at Schultz Park on South Main Street.
Participants can choose from several running options:
- Marathon: A certified 26.2-mile course.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course with bus transportation provided from Elroy to the start area.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile race held on the 400 Trail.
- Kids Races: Short-distance events designed for younger participants.
The event history began with a 5K and a single youth race, later adding the half marathon in 2008 and the certified full marathon in 2013. The marathon course is designed to accommodate runners who require more than six hours to complete the distance. All courses utilize the local geography of the scenic town of Elroy and its established trail systems. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
