Event Overview
The Apple Blossom 5K is a community event held in Saint Joseph. It features three distinct events that all share the same 5K (3.1-mile) course. The event is sponsored by BFit CrossFit and serves as a fundraiser for Sisters of Solace, an organization supporting women survivors of trauma, human trafficking, and addiction.
Events
- 5K Run/Walk: A standard running and walking event.
- Tandem Run: A team event for two people. The pair must complete the entire course together while holding a resistance band. Teams can be male/male, female/female, or co-ed.
- Heavy Burden Run: A team event for four people. The team must carry one heavy sandbag together to the finish line. Sandbag weights are 70 lb for all-male teams and 50 lb for all-female or co-ed teams. All team members start and finish together.
Course and Logistics
The course begins at the St. Joseph Aquatic Park parking lot on South Noyes Boulevard. Runners travel north, turn left onto Frederick Avenue, and follow the route of the Apple Blossom Parade. The finish line is in the parking lot of River Bluff Brewing on Frederick Avenue. The start and finish lines are at different locations. Shuttles are available at the finish to return participants to vehicles parked at the start.
Participant Information
Packet pickup is available in the days before the race at BFit CrossFit on Locust Street, and on race day at the start line. Strollers are permitted on the course. Dogs are allowed if they are well-behaved and on a leash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
