The Appalachian Fair 2.62 Miles Race takes place at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray, TN on August 21, 2026, as part of the fair’s 100th anniversary events. The program includes a children’s dash and a main 2.62 miles race.

Packet pickup and parking are handled at the Appalachian Fair Grounds Farm & Home Building on the event day. Race packets include a children’s coupon for two fair rides and an adult packet includes one complimentary fair gate entrance ticket. The deadline to guarantee a shirt and selected size is August 7, 2026. A virtual race option is available for participants who prefer social distancing or cannot attend in person; virtual participants may submit a race time later and still receive the shirt and medal.
Awards are offered for both men and women and include Top 3 overall, Top Male and Female Masters, Top Male and Female GrandMasters, and age-group awards for 9 & Under through 70 & Older. The course is marked with a color sequence starting with yellow, then green, and finishing with red; arrow signs, volunteers, and police officers will be present on the course.
Approximately 50 volunteers are requested to assist with packet pickup, course marshaling, the water station, post-race activities, and cleanup. Special appearances at the event include the Golden Knights and Clydesdale horses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
