McIntosh 10km & 25km : Halifax, NS
The event features two trail race distances on the McIntosh Run singletrack near downtown Halifax. It is new for 2026 that both a 10 km and a 25 km course are offered, with the two starts staggered by ten minutes so runners are more spread out in the early kilometers.
Both distances share parts of the same looped course that runs through a network of well-maintained granite trails. The surface is primarily hard-packed with intermittent roots and rocks. The former forest fire area along the route provides open views toward Halifax Harbour and Flat Lake. The 25 km course includes an aid station near the 14 km mark offering water, Skratch, and additional items.
The trail network has been developed by the McIntosh Run Watershed Association and includes singletrack through forests, granite barrens, and wetlands. Since 2016 the association has built over 27 km of singletrack and a Phase 2 expansion is planned to add about 16 km more.
There is no mandatory gear list, but traction aids such as slip-on spikes, studded shoes, or sand are recommended if conditions are icy or snowy. The race proceeds in most weather conditions. Prizes are planned for podium finishers and for winners in the over-50 categories for men and women, plus door prizes. No refunds are available; transfers to another participant are allowed until October 16 for $1.95 plus processing fees. Merchandise orders close September 26 at 12:00 pm.
