About the race
The Antonine Trail 10k is the inaugural Kirkintilloch Olympians Antonine Trail Race, reinstating much of the original ATRX 10 km course with the race now starting and finishing in Twechar. The route begins at Colliery Green, Twechar, and follows trails that lead up Barrhill past a section of the Antonine fort, then crosses into Croy. Runners continue up Mount Cookie and Croy Hill, with views across the Kilsyth hills, before a sharp descent to a road crossing and a return to Twechar via trails through Creekie Wood. The organisers note the course includes many ups and downs.
Number pick up is from 08:00 at Twechar Outdoor Pursuits Centre, 15 Canal Row, Main Street, Twechar G65 9DT. Facilities at the centre include toilets, showers and changing areas, and space for belongings at the owner’s risk. The race is chip timed and timing chips are distributed with race numbers.
Entry was limited to 150 runners. Entry fees were listed as SAL registered £15 and others £18, with no entry on the day. Prizes in cash or vouchers were to be awarded to first, second and third male and female finishers, plus age group prizes to be posted after the event. Results were to be posted on the club website, the race Facebook page and on SAL/Power of 10 websites. The event is SA licensed and held under UKA rules.
