Animal Friends 5K and Dog Jog
The event takes place at Fairfield Youth Football Fields in Fairfield, Ohio on June 6, 2026. It features a chip-timed 5K run/walk for people only and a separate, untimed 1.5 mile Dog Jog where participants may be accompanied by dogs and a limited number of adoptable animals from the shelter.
Distances:
- 3.1 miles - 5K Run/Walk (chip-timed, people only)
- 1.5 miles - Dog Jog (not timed, dogs allowed)
Registration fees are listed with separate race day fees: standard 5K registration is $35 and race day registration is $40; Dog Jog registration is $30 and race day registration is $35. Same-day registration and packet pickup are available the morning of the event. Registered participants receive a swag bag; the first 200 5K finishers receive an event medal. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female 5K finishers. T-shirts are available for purchase through May 24 while supplies last.
Animal Friends offers 5K and Dog Jog Tribute Signs for $30 through May 15. Tribute signs display a pet’s name and color photo along the Dog Jog route and are returned to the purchaser after the event; purchasers submit a high resolution photo and pet information via a provided form. Dog Jog rules include one dog per person, short leashes only, no retractable leads, current vaccinations, and cleaning up after pets. Strollers are allowed in the Dog Jog but not in the 5K.
