Animal Friends 5K and Dog Jog
The Animal Friends 5K and Dog Jog is a fundraising event held at the Fairfield Youth Football Fields in Fairfield, Ohio. The event features two primary distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1.5 mile Dog Jog
The day begins with a chip-timed 5K run or walk for human participants only. Pets are not allowed on the 5K course. Following the timed event, the 1.5 mile Dog Jog offers a non-timed, leisurely opportunity for participants to jog or walk alongside a canine companion. For those who do not have a dog, a limited number of adoptable dogs from the shelter may be available to accompany participants on the course.
Participants in the Dog Jog must follow specific safety guidelines, including using a short, non-retractable leash and ensuring pets are current on vaccinations. Only one dog is allowed per person. The course includes water stops for both humans and animals.
Registered participants receive a swag bag of giveaways, and the first 200 finishers of the 5K receive an event medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K. Amenities at the venue include snacks and ice cream treats for participants, as well as pup cups for dogs. The Petmobile also attends the event with animals available for adoption.
