Animal Friends 5K and Dog Jog
The Animal Friends 5K and Dog Jog takes place on June 6, 2026, at the Fairfield Youth Football Fields by Waterworks Park in Fairfield, Ohio.
Two main events are offered:
- A chip-timed 5K run/walk (3.1 miles). This event is for people only, and dogs are not permitted.
- A Dog Jog, which is a leisurely, non-timed 1.5-mile walk or jog. Participants can bring their own dog or walk an adoptable shelter dog.
Registered participants receive Flubs ice cream treats, and "pup cups" are provided for dogs. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in the 5K. The first 200 finishers of the 5K also receive an event medal, and all participants get a swag bag from sponsors.
Separate registration is required for each event, with advance registration fees of $35 for the 5K and $30 for the Dog Jog. Race day registration fees are higher. T-shirts are available for purchase with registration by a certain date, and a limited quantity will be available on the day of the event.
The event also offers Tribute Signs for purchase (available until May 15). These signs feature a pet's name and picture, are placed along the Dog Jog path, and can be kept after the event.
The Petmobile, a mobile adoption unit, will be present. The event is a fundraiser for Animal Friends, supporting the care of homeless animals, and proceeds go toward this cause. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
