Amway River Bank Run
The Amway River Bank Run takes place on the second Saturday in May on the streets of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Established in 1978, the event is expected to host more than 10,000 competitors. It features the largest 25 km road race in the United States and has served as the site of the USA 25 km Open Championships since 1995.
The event offers a variety of distances and categories to accommodate different types of participants:
- 25 km Run
- 25 km Wheelchair and Handcycle divisions
- 10 km Run
- 5 km Run
- 5 km Community Walk
- Amway Junior (for younger participants)
The 25 km course has been the setting for multiple records, including the Men's American and Course record and the Women's Only American record. It is also noted for being the only event in the world to offer a 25 km Wheelchair racing division.
In addition to the physical races in Grand Rapids, a virtual race option is available. The weekend includes a sports and fitness expo for event check-in and a finish fest for participants. Training schedules are provided for the 5 km, 10 km, and 25 km distances. The event also hosts a team competition for corporate, education, and community social groups.
