Amphibious Duathlon
The Amphibious Duathlon in Charlotte, NC combines two trail runs with a flatwater paddle around Sadler Island. The course sequence is a 5K trail run, a 2K paddle on the Catawba River using kayaks or stand up paddleboards, and a second 5K trail run, for a total distance of 12K. All necessary flatwater paddling equipment is included in the registration fee and personal watercraft or paddles are not permitted.
The event uses timed waves that go out every 15 minutes and the paddling field has a capacity limit based on the number of available kayaks. Waves are selected during registration. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the event at the South Conference Center and also opens on race day.
Race registration is non-refundable. Race shirts are guaranteed only for participants who register before July 19th. Trails used for the run portions remain open to other runners, hikers and bikers; participants are asked to communicate when passing and note that e-bikes and powered transportation are not permitted in Whitewater Race Series events.
The organizing center provides emergency location markers along the trail system and does not conduct trail rescues; participants must call 911 if they require emergency services. Events are scheduled to proceed rain or shine, with the center reserving the right to alter, reschedule, or cancel events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
