American River Parkway Half Marathon 2027

The American River Parkway Half Marathon returns to the William B Pond Recreational Area in Carmichael on April 24, 2027. This annual community event marks its 19th running and is noted as the first half marathon along the American River Parkway and the first spring-time half marathon in the Sacramento region. Over the life of the event, organizers report having donated over $400,000 in proceeds to benefit the American River Parkway.

The event uses two separate courses, one for runners and one for walkers. Both courses are described as flat, fast, and shady, and they run along the American River Parkway through old-growth oak forests, green meadows, and riparian habitat. Aid station coverage is extensive: eight stations for runners and nine for walkers, each offering ice-cold water and Gatorade. Live entertainment includes more than a dozen bands along the courses, a bag pipe processional at the start, and a Mariachi Band in the finish area.

Finishers receive a personalized medal and a bottle of ice-cold water, and the postrace area includes a lunch with a meat or vegetarian Parkway Wrap, fresh fruit, and a cookie. Packet pickup is available on the two days before the race and on race day. The event also supports fundraising for Parkway projects such as habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, trash cleanup, nature trails, and drinking fountain installations.
