American River Parkway Half Marathon 2027
The American River Parkway Half Marathon is the 19th annual edition held at the William B Pond Recreational Area in Carmichael, California on April 24, 2027. The event is described as the first half marathon along the American River Parkway and the first spring-time half marathon in the Sacramento region. Organizers report that, to date, more than $400,000 in proceeds have been donated to benefit the American River Parkway; a current fundraising entry shows $151.75 raised for the Parkway Fund.
The event uses two separate half marathon courses - one for runners and one for walkers. Both courses are described as flat, fast, and shady, running through old-growth oak forests, green meadows, and riparian habitat. Each course features multiple aid stations with ice-cold water and Gatorade - eight aid stations for runners and nine for walkers.
Entertainment and on-course amenities include over a dozen live bands, a bag pipe processional at the start, finish-line mariachi music, a personalized finisher medal, and a bottle of ice-cold water at the finish. Post-race provisions include a lunch with a meat or vegetable Parkway Wrap, fresh fruit, and a cookie. Event proceeds have supported parkway enhancements such as habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, trash cleanup, kids’ interactive nature trails, and multiple drinking fountain installations.
