The Alton Ten

The Alton Ten is an established 10-mile road race and a fixture in the Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL) calendar. The event is organized by Alton Runners and Alton Lions, starting and finishing at Eggar's School in Holybourne, Alton.

The route consists of a single 10-mile (16 km) circuit. The course is undulating and follows picturesque village lanes and scenic countryside roads throughout Hampshire. Because the course uses open public roads, the event is not wheelchair accessible, and the use of wheeled vehicles, dogs, or accompanying bicycles is prohibited. Participants have a generous cut-off time of 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the distance.

Race headquarters at Eggar's School provides several facilities for participants:

  • Toilets
  • Supervised bag drop area
  • Limited changing areas and showers
  • Pre-race refreshments near the start

Registration must be completed in advance, as no entries are accepted on the day of the race. The event is open to runners aged 17 and older. All finishers receive a medal upon completion. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, with additional prizes for the first-place finishers in various age categories ranging from Senior to V80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
