Alpine Races 5k and 10 Mile
The Alpine Races 5k and 10 Mile take place on Sunday August 16, 2026 at Breezewald Park in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The event is presented by the Alpine Runners of Lake Zurich and is billed as the 46th Annual Lake Zurich Alpine Races.
Event distances include:
- 10 Mile (adult 15 and over)
- Adult 5k Run/Walk (15 and over)
- Youth 5k Run/Walk (ages 1 to 14)
- Youth Mile (ages 1 to 14; 1/2 mi, 1/4 mi, or 100 yd)
- Kids Fun Runs (ages 1 to 14)
The 5k and 10 mile courses are USATF certified and run through local streets and along the shores of Lake Zurich. Gatorade and water will be provided along the course. The Alpine Runners 10 Mile Run is designated as the 2026 Illinois RRCA Championship 10 Mile Run and is listed as a 2025 CARA Racing Circuit Race. Race rules prohibit dogs, strollers, bicycles, and rollerblades on course. The organizer follows a no refund and no deferral policy for registrations completed online, by mail, or on race weekend.
Volunteers support race operations including packet pickup, water stops, and the finish area. The Alpine Runners club also offers membership benefits such as race discounts, access to training programs and coaches, and organized group runs and social events.
