Alpine Races 10 Mile and 5k
The Alpine Races is a long-standing running event held in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Now in its 46th year, the competition takes place in Breezewald Park and utilizes routes that travel through local streets and along the shoreline of Lake Zurich. The courses for the primary distances are USATF certified.
Participants can choose from several different race distances:
- 10 Miles
- 3.1 Miles (5k Run/Walk)
- 1 Mile (Youth Mile)
- Kids Fun Runs
The 10 Mile event is a featured race on the 2026 CARA Racing Circuit. For the Youth Mile, awards are presented to the top three boys and girls in age categories ranging from 6 and under up to 13-14 years.
Hydration stations providing water and Gatorade are positioned at intervals along the course. To ensure safety and course flow, dogs, strollers, bicycles, and rollerblades are not permitted in any of the race categories. There is an established policy that no refunds or deferrals are issued for registrations. The event relies on community support for logistics such as packet pickup, water stations, and finish line operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
