All Inclusive Community Colour Run

About the race

All Inclusive Community Colour Run is a free community event for young people with disability and their families, held at Batt Street / Jamison Park in South Penrith. The activity is run as a fun run in heats so younger and older participants take part separately; participants walk or run through stations where cornstarch-based coloured powder is thrown onto clothing. On the day there is a warm up dance and stretch, games between heats (including bull rush, dodge ball, red light green light, Simon says, musical statues and tug of war), face painting, temporary tattoos, bubble machines, music, a photo spot, lucky dip prizes and a participation ribbon for each runner. A sausage sizzle, lolly bags and fairy floss are available for purchase; water is provided on site. The course is flat and uses grass and hard court surfaces; wheelchairs, walkers and prams are suitable.

A quiet space away from music and powder is available. Organisers advise wearing a plain white or light coloured shirt, clothes and shoes that can get dirty, a hat, sunscreen and bringing a drink bottle and sunglasses to help keep powder out of the eyes. The colour powder is cornstarch based and non toxic but can irritate eyes and airways; staff do not throw powder at faces and participants with respiratory conditions are asked to note this in their booking so first aid can be prepared.
