14th Annual Alive and Running VA 5K
The Alive and Running VA 5K Fun Run/Walk is an annual event held on the historic campus of the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. This timed race is organized in collaboration with Gryphon Place to raise awareness for suicide prevention within Military, Veteran, and youth populations. The course begins at the entrance of the medical center, ascends the main hill, and completes two loops around the campus before descending back to the finish line.
Participants have the following distance options:
- 5K Run/Walk (Live event on the VA Medical Center campus)
- 5K Run/Walk (Virtual option for remote participation)
The live race allows both children and strollers, though children must remain with a parent or guardian. Domestic dogs are not permitted on the course. Participants in the virtual event may complete their distance in any location, such as a neighborhood or on a treadmill, between September 12 and October 3. Virtual participants are required to log their times manually.
Individual registration includes a race t-shirt, which is guaranteed for those who sign up by September 1. Packet pickup is scheduled at the entrance of the medical center on the Friday evening before the race and the Saturday morning of the event. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top three participants in eight different age categories ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over.
