14th Annual Alive and Running VA 5K Fun Run Walk
The event is a 5K run and walk on September 12, 2026 held on the campus of the Battle Creek VA Medical Center at 5500 Armstrong Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49037. The event is offered as both a live race on the VA campus and a virtual option.
The course on the medical center campus begins in the parking lot at the entrance, goes up the main hill and around the historic campus twice, then returns down the hill to the finish. The race will be timed. Runners start before walkers. Children and strollers are allowed with the requirement that children remain with a parent or guardian. Dogs are not allowed; questions about service dogs are handled by the race administrator. In the event of inclement weather the race may be delayed or cancelled and no refunds will be given.
Virtual participants may complete the 5K anywhere between September 12 and October 3, 2026 and enter their time on the Run Sign Up website. Virtual participants are still eligible to receive a race t shirt. Drive through packet pickup will be available at the entrance to the VA on September 11 and September 12.
Registration opened March 1, 2026. Early online and mail in registration is $15 through July 1, 2026 with later fees and deadlines detailed by the organizer. The event is presented in collaboration with Gryphon Place which provides suicide prevention services for veterans and others in the region.
